Alright everyone. So I'm in Taiwan! It is so awesome here and so beautiful and wow. It's great. I'll go through my first few days here and try to use at least a little bit of detail.
Alright everyone. So I'm in Taiwan! It is so awesome here and so beautiful and wow. It's great. I'll go through my first few days here and try to use at least a little bit of detail.
So we got on the plane monday night at 11:40. We arrived Wednesday morning at 9:00ish. Now that was a long flight. We had to stay up until 7 o'clock LA time and it was tough. However, elder Harmon was able to help me stay awake. But we got into Taiwan and President Peterson and his wife were there and they all welcomed us and helped us change our money to Taiwan money. Taiwan money is awesome. However, there is one problem with it. The coins are actually worth a lot of money. It sucks cuz I have to keep track of my coins. But it's okay because it looks super cool. Anyways, we took a bus back to the temple/mission home/patron housing and walk around on the street a little bit and talk to people. It was really cool. We had this drink that was super interesting. So in Taiwan they like to put these like little balls in their drinks and it is the most interesting thing in the world. The drink was super good and then I got to chew these little balls and it was kind of a weird sensation but it tasted pretty good. We then had a bunch of administrative things that were handled and then went on splits with some other missionaries. Really awesome and cool.
The next morning we went and visited the grand hotel. I have some pictures down below with that. Then we eventually got to meet our trainers. It was kind of cool how they did that because we read a new mission call. It was pretty cool. My trainer is elder Bateman. He is awesome. He's from Canada and had been out about a year. His Chinese is super good and he is helping me a ton make a plan to memorize a bunch of words and really improve my Chinese as fast as possible, I'm super excited for the next couple transfers with him.
That's another subject though. My Chinese. Oh boy. It's tough. In Taiwan, everyone speaks Chinese. Surprise! It's hard. It's not like LA where I could get away with having bad Chinese, literally everything here is in Chinese. I'm really working on improving my Chinese because it's tough to really talk with anyone. I try to make street contacts and every single time elder Bateman has to come in and save me. But it's okay, I'll figure it out.
Anyways, this week has been pretty awesome. We are teaching someone called 陳惠妤。She is pretty awesome. She is set up to be baptized on the 24 which also happens to be her birthday which is pretty awesome. During our lessons with her I don't understand a lot of what's going on, however, I do know she is ready to be baptized which is awesome.
One more exciting thing that happened this week is every month, there is a recent convert fireside. It is super cool. Basically, there are recent converts from all over the mission that give their testimonies and are super awesome. We brought 陳惠妤 and it was super awesome for her.
Anyways, that's pretty much my week, if you have any questions, feel free to send them my way (:
