GROUP EMAIL 12-9-2018 Hello everyone, just your casual tall, white elder from Taiwan who is trying to learn Chinese

One day, maybe my subject lines will be interesting or have something cool in them. For now, you all get my jokes.  This week was pretty good! One big thing we had this week was a Christmas concert on Saturday. It was super fun. Me and my companion actually sang in two of the choirs because our stake was the ones that put it on. They held it at an elementary school in Tianmu and we got a bunch of people to come I think! I don't know how many were members and how many were not but it had a lot of people. And on Sunday, the people from my ward that came told us how they loved it. But yeah! That was pretty much our entire Saturday.  Another crazy thing that happened this week was we went and visited a members house. This story is pretty crazy so hold your horses. So we are teaching these people, one is an active member who is a returned missionary and the other is a returning member. Both are really awesome and super nice (the Returning member is a super old grandma who i...

GROUP EMAIL 12/2/2018 Just your weekly email from your favorite elder in Taiwan

Hey everyone! This week was great! Man, missions are great. If any of you were considering it, do it! Anyways, this week was great. Taiwan is great. Miracles happen all the time. We were able to go to the temple this week which was so great. I love the temple so much. The Taiwan temple is actually pretty small relatively, but it's super cool. One thing that's kind of cool that's different than America is that you take your shoes off before going in. It's culture here to take your shoes off before going into a house, and since it's the Lord's house, we take our shoes off. So that's kind of cool.  This week I went on exchanges with Elder Liu and Elder Davies. So we got a new elder in our district this week, and that Elda is Elder Davies. He's super cool, we were in the MTC together for a little bit and he is an awesome missionary. It was pretty awesome, we learned a ton. We are actually all in training right now so it was cool to see how their ...

GROUP EMAIL 11/28/2018 Temple today Woot woot!

I get to go to the temple today woot Woot! I am so pumped you guys don't even know.  Anyways, this week was pretty good! There are a few highlights from this week that I think that I will talk about.  Alright, so the first is dodge ball! We actually played the very last dodge ball game in the mission. Fun stuff. It was especially fun because I left my workout shoes in LA and so I was playing in some good old church shoes. It was the first time I had thrown a ball in forever so my arm was a little sore afterwards which was kind of funny. Anyways, back to the last dodge ball game in the mission. We had zone conference that Thursday and dodge ball was banned, so yeah, that was funny because we have credit on the last dodgebal game in the mission. Don't worry it wasn't our fault though.  The next day though I got in a bike accident! Woo-hoo for riding bikes in Taiwan. This actually had nothing to do with the crazy traffic here this was just all me. Basically what ...

GROUP EMAIL 11-19-2018 LAWS IN TAIWAN

So first of all, before I forget to tell you all. Next week I will not be emailing you all next Monday. We are going to the temple next week on Wednesday so my P-day will be then! I'm super pumped for the temple, it'll be in English so don't bother asking (; Anyways! This week was pretty good! 陳 JM had her baptismal Interview and will be getting baptized this Saturday! We are super pumped for that. There's one bad thing with that though, that day is election day. Apparently you have to go to your home town in order to vote? We aren't entirely sure on the logistics of all that, but election day is huge here. Politics are also huge. I'm not sure on all the rules regarding campaigning, so that might explain some of this, but there are posters everywhere! There are literally cars that drive around with people's faces on them and play prerecorded messages over and over and over again. In fact, when I was on exchanges we were walking around and this parade for...

GROUP EMAIL 11-12-2018 Woot Woot! Taiwan!

Hello everyone, I am pretty sure my subject of my emails will be that every single week because man, Taiwan is amazing. As you can all expect, it was another great week, as are all weeks here in Taiwan.  So I wanna talk about I think three cool things that happened this week. Maybe four, we'll see by the time I finish the email.  The first is a super cool experience! So I don't remember what day it was, but we in general are having a hard time finding people. So we decided to up our efforts of talking to everyone. Literally everyone. If you are in Taiwan, you better watch out for us because we promise we will talk to you. But this one night, we were having a great conversation with this one guy, really awesome conversation, super awesome, this guy was totally feeling the Spirit and everything, he was literally in the process of giving us his line, then his dad like calls for him and he doesn't say anything and just leaves. We were super frustrated. So at that ...

Group email 4 November 2018

***The pictures he included in the email- are in the picture link*** Alright everyone. So I'm in Taiwan! It is so awesome here and so beautiful and wow. It's great. I'll go through my first few days here and try to use at least a little bit of detail. So we got on the plane monday night at 11:40. We arrived Wednesday morning at 9:00ish. Now that was a long flight. We had to stay up until 7 o'clock LA time and it was tough. However, elder Harmon was able to help me stay awake. But we got into Taiwan and President Peterson and his wife were there and they all welcomed us and helped us change our money to Taiwan money. Taiwan money is awesome. However, there is one problem with it. The coins are actually worth a lot of money. It sucks cuz I have to keep track of my coins. But it's okay because it looks super cool. Anyways, we took a bus back to the temple/mission home/patron housing and walk around on the street a little bit and talk to people. It was really cool...

GROUP EMAIL 10-30

大家好!  I got my visa!!! I am off to Taiwan tonight. So the flight plan is that we leave LAX at 11:40 tonight! Then it is a 15 and a half hour flight to Hong Kong. After that, we get on a plane for about an hour and a half to go to Taiwan! The plan is to stay up for the first 8 hours of the flight to Hong Kong then sleep. So I have 25 hours of staying awake ahead of me. I will be flying with Elder Harmon, Elder Peterson, and we believe that Sister Player will be with us as well! It is super awesome and I am super excited to fly with them. Hopefully they can help keep me awake though lol.  Also before I start the rest of the email, I am so sorry if I don't respond to you guys this week. I don't have a ton of time and I have to pack today. So I will try and respond to you all, however, if I don't respond to your email this week, I promise that I will respond next week.  This week was pretty good. I went on two exchanges this week. One was with Elder Gardner, who is...
