GROUP EMAIL- 9/3/2018 Just your average week at the MTC
This week wasn't exciting, just like every other week. We eat, go to class, and study chinese.
My chinese is coming along really well though. It is really exciting to see. I have definitely learned so much here and can hold a conversation with a native speaker pretty well, especially about the gospel. I am starting to learn the words I learned in high school again (I have to relearn them because I have no idea the tones on any of them, if you don't know what tones are, ask someone who does) so that is really exciting.
Me and Elder harmon have been trying to SYL a bunch. And we have done pretty well. I have learned a lot from just SYLing too, so that is also exciting.
Other than that though, nothing really exciting happened. We get our travel plans on Friday, that's really exciting. Also, there is one thing I wanted to say. One of my friends from elementary school and middle school is currently on a mission, he is in the Mexico MTC and Elder Bednar visited last week. His name is Elder Teeples and he shared this thing that Elder Bednar said in his talk that I wanted to share with you all. "If you think 189 temples is a lot, just wait for general conference!" Hahahah I thought that was so cool.
The scripture I want to share this week is Helaman 5:12. I love this scripture so much. Sometimes, we will go through hard times. However, if our rock and foundation is in Jesus Christ, we cannot fall.
That's my week. Love you all!
Elder Vander Linden
